Brielle Maria Vela (Bri)
December 14th 2018- March 29th 2019
Brielle was born at 33 weeks, one minute after her twin sister, Ariella, to Andrea Andrews and Gilbert Vela at the Children's Hospital in Aurora. She was 4 lbs, 8 oz, had a shock of pitch black hair, full lips, long eye lashes, her Tata's nose and adorable chubby cheeks. Before she was even born, Brielle got to enjoy the constant comfort of her twin sister, Ariella, as well as the adoring attentions from her parents and siblings in the form of singing, patting, rubbing and 'I love you's. It wasn't long after her birth that she was dubbed the little Warrior Princess because of the bravery and tolerance that seemed to emanate from her in the face of so many difficult medical procedures. But she also experienced the hugs and kisses from her siblings, long cuddles with her Mama and Tata, and close contact with her twin sister at every opportunity. Brielle touched the hearts of many with her brave struggle, and losing her has reminded us all of this precious gift we have been given , these few sweet breaths we call life. Our baby girl, our little Warrior Princess was called to the Lord on March 29th. She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her twin sister, her 1-year-old sister, Leelah and her 3-year-old brother, Amare, her mother and father and all her loving grandparents and great grand-parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

For a Parent on the Death of a Child
No one knows the wonder
Your child awoke in you,
Your heart a perfect cradle
To hold its presence.
Inside and outside became one
As new waves of love
Kept surprising your soul.
Now you sit bereft
Inside a nightmare,
Your eyes numbed
By the sight of a grave
No parent should ever see.
You will wear this absence
Like a secret locket,
Always wondering why
Such a new soul
Was taken home so soon.
Let the silent tears flow
And when your eyes clear
Perhaps you will glimpse
How your eternal child
Has become the unseen angel
Who parents your heart
And persuades the moon
To send new gifts ashore.
