Brian Richard Hood, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away at the age of 40 on Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Brian was born on September 12, 1977, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Robert (Bob) Hood and Peg (Margaret Cullen) Hood.
As a child, Brian was fearless; he rappelled down the side of his house with an electric extension cord. Always an animal lover, he raised rabbits in the backyard, took care of farm animals, brought home a turtle who he thought could live in the bath tub, and a puppy he named "Nacho." With age, he became a man who enjoyed working outdoors with his hands, and he developed a true passion for hunting and felt free outside, spending the fall months in the mountains. After swearing he would never marry, and having a lifetime hatred for having his picture taken, he married Ann (Hoelscher) Hood, who was drawn to Brian's handsome smile. She could match his humor, support his hunting hobbies, and ignited his desire to have a family of his own. Ann brought their wonderful son Brady into Brian's life; the pair developed an unbreakable connection and shared a deep love of mashed potatoes. Brady taught Brian patience, but he was still a 'tough guy,' until his little princess Bailey was born, who stole his heart and had him wrapped around her little finger. The two shared a special father-daughter bond, excellent dancing skills, and love of dogs. He was known to all for his quick wit, severe stubbornness, impressive hunting skills, and thinking camouflage was a fashion style. Brian possessed a warm heart, and protective instinct, to all those around him.
Brian is survived by his wife Ann, his two children, Brady and Bailey, his father Bob, mother Peg, siblings Brent Hood, Kim Hood, and half-sister Emily (Harmon) Richter, loving step family Cheryl Hood, Brian Goldrich and Shelly Goldrich, along with grandmothers Elizabeth Cullen and Marjorie Hood. He will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his unconditionally supportive in-laws. Brian was preceded in death by his grandfathers Thomas Hood and Richard Cullen.
A celebration of life for Brian will be held outdoors Sunday August 26, 2018, 1:00pm, at Soldier Canyon Pavilion located at Lori State Park. (Details at
