Bonnie A. Schantz was born August 29, 1942 in DeKalb, Illinois to Gilbert Christian Jacobson and Nora Lydia "Little" Jacobson. After graduating in 1960 from Sycamore High School, she moved to Madison Wisconsin to obtain her radiology technology degree from the University of Wisconsin. She married Donald Wayne Patterson, Jr. in 1964 and they started moving west before making Fort Collins their final destination around 1971. They had two daughters, Sonja and Kerri. In addition to being a Domestic Manager, Bonnie utilized her talents and educational degrees in radiology and nursing to work in a variety of related and unrelated careers. These positions ranged from being a radiology technician, pediatric and geriatric nurse, counselor and travel agent to name just a few.
Bonnie married James F. "Jim" Schantz in 1984 and for over 26 years they shared many outdoor hobbies including gardening, bird hunting, fishing and dog outings. Bonnie was a devoted Christian who joined her Lord on Christmas Day. Bonnie is survived by her blended family including daughters, Sonja Olsen of Wyoming, Kerri Terrazas of Greeley, Karin Schantz of Lakewood; son, Sean Schantz of California; granddaughters, Kaycee Olsen, Audry Terrazas and Kaylee Schantz; grandsons, Adam Terrazas and Ryan Schantz; her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Kay Jacobson of Sycamore, Illinois. She was preceded in death by Jim Schantz, Quince Olsen, Brandon Schantz, and her parents. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel followed by a reception. Graveside service will be at held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging area "A" on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
