Bobby Gene Webb went to his heavenly home on February 25, 2011 after a long battle with many health problems and finally bone cancer. Bob was born on September 5, 1928, in Wetumka, Okla. His parents were Ova Edward Webb and Alice Pamelia Meadors Webb. He spent his childhood and early adulthood in Oklahoma. He graduated from high school in Paul's Valley, Okla. He attended Oklahoma University for one year and then enlisted in the Air Force. He was sent to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he spent his four years of service during the Korean War. Bob attended Oklahoma Baptist University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He then began teaching in Denver in 1957. He started out teaching Latin in Junior High School and then English and then English in Junior High and high school. He was with DPS for 33 years. Early in his career he began attending the University of Denver and received his Master's Degree from there in 1962. Bob met his future wife, Leota Regier Webb, in Denver. She was also a teacher in DPS. They enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. They had two sons, John Douglas Webb and David Edward Webb. David preceded him in death at age 21. Bob and Leota lived in Denver for 42 years. For the last 11 years they have made their home in Fort Collins. Bob played the piano from the time he was 10 years old. Later, he also played the organ. He loved music, and he has always played for the glory of God. He was the church pianist/organist for 29 years at University Hills Baptist Church in Denver. Since moving to Fort Collins Bob has endeared himself to many by playing in various nursing homes, for events at Faith E Free, where he and Leota attended, for quartets, ensembles, and other activities. He loved playing his own baby grand piano in his home and would sit and play by the hour. After retiring from teaching Bob and Leota enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. They loved being with their friends from Denver and Fort Collins. Bob is survived by his wife Leota; son John, and his wife, Daylene; grandsons Andrew and Tyler; his brother Lyndal, of Hope, Arkansas; and his nephew Larry Woolverton, of Tulsa, Okla. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 3920 S. Shields, in Fort Collins, on Wednesday, March 2nd, at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the north commons area of the church. Military honors will be presented by the Fort Collins All-Veterans honor guard. Those who would like to remember Bobby may also attend a viewing at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive, in Fort Collins, from 12:00 to 6:00 on Tuesday, March 1st. A Bobby Webb Memorial Fund has been established. Make donations payable to the Bobby Webb Memorial Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The donations will be distributed between his grandson Andrew's street ministry in Chicago - Chicago's Beloved, and Campus Crusade for Christ.
