William "Bill" C. McLane Jr., 82, of Fort Collins, died Nov. 8, 2007, at the Medical Center of the Rockies. Mr. McLane Jr. was born April 14, 1925, in Rockford, Ill., to William C. McLane Sr. and Anna Malone McLane. Bill served in the Navy as a member of the Seabees in the South Pacific during World War II. Bill married Norma Jean Stratmann on April 16, 1948, in Pecatonica, Ill. They moved to Fort Collins 35 years ago from Pecatonica. Bill worked at Woodward Governor in manufacturing and assembly for 16 years in Rockford, Ill., and for 16 years in Fort Collins. He was very active in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War while he lived in Illinois. In Fort Collins, he was a member of the Elk's Lodge #804. He especially enjoyed his family and spending time with them. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean McLane; sons, Wayne McLane and his wife, Vickie, Joel McLane and his wife, Sharon, and Douglas McLane and his wife, Chia, all of Fort Collins; a sister, Ruth Ann Flack of Denver; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding Bill in death are his parents; a brother, Edward McLane; and a sister, Margaret McElmeel. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. W. Donald Fike will officiate at the service.
