Betty I. Klundt

Betty Iona (McClure) Klundt, 92, of Fort Collins, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2015. She was born on July 15, 1922 to Charles and Maude (Grewell) McClure. She grew up on a farm in Kansas and later moved to Nebraska where she met and married Ervin Klundt in 1941 at Osceola, NE. In 1957, they moved with their two daughters to Colorado where she began a career at the National Bureau of Standards (now the National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Boulder. After retirement, she and Ervin lived in Evans, CO before moving to Fort Collins in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, husband and infant son, Larry Lee. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Bonnie (John) Shull of Florence, AZ and Beverly (Rick) Marquart of Fort Collins; two grandchildren, Brittany (Jason) Thorngren and Reid (Jennifer) Marquart all of Fort Collins; four great-grandchildren, Cole, Emily, Harley and Hazel; and many extended family members and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

Betty was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Fort Collins and had many passions including genealogy; traveling; Bible study; her home and garden; needle work; crossword puzzles; the Colorado Rockies and, of course, her family. Her love for family was unsurpassed.
Words cannot express how profoundly she will be missed. Her love of life, compassion for others, patience and understanding, generous spirit, and sense of humor will forever be cherished by all those fortunate enough to have been touched by her life.

As a family, we would like to thank the caring staff at Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab and Pathways Hospice who provided her with comfort and dignity.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Fort Collins with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
