Betty Jane Evig 88, of Fort Collins, CO passed away peacefully March 6, 2016 at Columbine West Health and Rehab in Fort Collins.

Betty was born January 7, 1928 in Steamboat Springs, CO to Herman and Mary Grace Bauer. As a young child her family moved to Longmont where Betty graduated from Longmont High School. Betty attended several class reunions and was especially proud of attending her 50th reunion.
Betty met Albert T. Evig in Loveland following the end of WWII. They were later married in Denver and made their home in Fort Collins where Albert worked for Public Service Gas Company. Betty and Albert were married for 32 years and had 2 children, Daniel (Barbara) of South Fork, CO and Sharon (Allen) Jensen of Fort Collins. Betty was a homemaker, working at Hamilton's Bakery in Steele's Market and for the Poudre School District Food Service. Betty was also active in the PTA and a 4-H leader. After Albert passed away in 1982 Betty became active with the Fort Collins Senior Center, with whom she went on numerous trips, and became active in the "Don't it Make You Wonder" group. Betty was also president of the local chapter of AARP. Betty also ran a group for widows and widowers. Betty enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading the daily newspaper with her morning coffee.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Ronald, and Donald, of Longmont, Grant of Loveland; and sister, Helen of Longmont. She is survived by one sister, Marilyn O'Connell of Rising Sun, Maryland. Two sister in laws, Alice Bauer, and Jane Evig. Betty is also survived by 5 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
