Betty Lou (Kuhlke) Conn, age 90 of Fort Collins CO, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023.
Born on January 7th, 1933, in Denver, Betty was educated in the Denver Public Schools, graduating from South High School and then graduating from Colorado State College of Education (UNC) in Greeley. After college she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Conn. While living in Sacramento, CA, during Jerry's time in the US Air Force, Betty taught elementary school. Returning to Denver, she stayed busy raising four children, volunteering at Ellis Elementary, and after moving to Fort Collins, she spent many years working at The Flower Company in Campus West and many summers working in the office at CSU's Mountain Campus. She also volunteered at the Museum of Contemporary Art. She was hard working and devoted to her family.
Betty was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, supporting her family throughout the years. She was a devoted wife and best friend to her husband of 60 plus years. She and Jerry were inseparable and enjoyed many birding trips to Arizona and New Mexico. Most summer weekends were spent with her family at their cabins in Pingree Park, helping with numerous cabin projects, going on hiking adventures looking for wildflowers, birds and moose. She shared her love of nature with all. Betty enjoyed family dinners and attending numerous school programs for her four grandchildren. Her love and appreciation for the arts lives on through them. She was also a maker, always keeping her hands busy gardening, sewing, crafting braided rugs and cooking. She was a voracious reader. She enjoyed hosting holiday celebrations and dinners; always saving room for dessert.
Betty is survived by her brother William Kuhlke and wife BJ Meyers of Alamosa, her children Bill and Judy (Carlson) Conn of Fort Collins, Brian and Julie (Hansen) Conn of Fort Collins, Terry and Sue (Awsumb) Conn of Livermore; her grandchildren, Jordan Conn, Jared Conn and fiancé Valerie (and daughter Sylvi), Betsy (Conn) and Brady Wagner (and daughter Addison) and Henry Conn.
