Berton Almon Rohrbacker passed away on September 10, 2016. He was born to Fred Charles Rohrbacker and Clio Elsie Russell Rohrbacker on July 18, 1924 in Bakersfield, CA. The family moved back to the state of Colorado before he was one year old, and he lived the rest of his life there.
Bert worked in commercial construction until his retirement. He bred and raised racing quarter horses. He loved working with horses and became something of a horse whisperer. He was especially good at working with children and horses. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to ride his horses. The family has fond memories of gathering with neighbors at his arena for horse days with relays and all kinds of other events on horseback.
Berton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Heath Rohrbacker; and his siblings, Joyce Rohrbacker Nelson, Russell Rohrbacker, Fritz Rohrbacker, Mick Rohrbacker, and Don Rohrbacker; and two of his nieces.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Rohrbacker and Robert Rohrbacker; daughter-in-law, Loie Rohrbacker; and grandchildren, Amanda (Don) Bird, Rebecca (Scot) Swainson, and Nicholas (Dawn) Rohrbacker. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Ethan Bird, Haleigh Bird, Caleb Swainson, Orion Rohrbacker, Mady Swainson, and Kepler Rohrbacker; sister-in-law, Jeanne Rohrbacker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Private Service will be held at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
