Bennie Joe Jimenez, 88, of Fort Collins, died March 21, 2018 at his home. Bennie was born May 20, 1929 in Trinidad, CO to Cresencio and Conception Jimenez. On April 25, 1946 Bennie married Mary T. Cortez in Denver, CO. They moved with their young family to Fort Collins in 1948.
Bennie was a supervisor for Woodward Governor for 16 years and then worked at Walmart for 13 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church.
Ben's hobbies included, wood carving in which he used mainly his pocket knife and a file; Drawing and sketching of all things but mostly wildlife, making monkeys from peach pits and turtles from walnut shells. He enjoyed telling stories of his younger years and jokes; lots of jokes. Mostly, he enjoyed talking to his children, grandchildren and friends about our religion; sharing what was passed down to him.
Ben spent many years on the farm, although it was hard work, he loved it and talked about it quite often. He also devoted time to Holy Family Church planning meals and taking part in their annual Fiesta; donating whatever funds were made.
Survivors include his sons, John, Tom, and Michael Jimenez all of Fort Collins and Chris Jimenez of Gladewater, Texas; five daughters, Barbara Swanson and Tina Jimenez both of Loveland, Kathy Lozano, Dorothy Robertson, and Lucia Robbins of Fort Collins; 4 daughters-in-law; Lorene, Ruth, Rhonda, and Tonya, and 2 sons-In-laws; Pete and Bobby; as well as 49 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren and 54 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Bennie in death are his parents; two children, Mark Jimenez and Theresa Hense; and 17 brothers and sisters, and his wife Mary Jimenez.
Viewing will be held for Mr. Jimenez from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, March 26, and 27th. Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
