Beatrice M. Chavez

Beatrice M. Chavez, 81, of Windsor, died May 8, 2012 at McKee Medical Center. Mrs. Chavez was born December 29, 1930 in Lagunista, New Mexico to Joe M. and Mary E. "Solano" Herrera. Beatrice married Benjamin Chavez in 1952 in Windsor, Colorado. Mrs. Chavez moved to Windsor during high school and lived on a farm north of Windsor. Beatrice was a teacher's aide at Tozer Elementary School for 21 years in Windsor. She enjoyed reading, cooking and loved being with her kids. Survivors include her husband, Ben; son, Tony Helen Chavez of Windsor; daughters, Debbie Herman Pacheco of Fort Collins, and Laura Guzman David Duvall of Longmont; brother, Joe Herrera of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceding Beatrice in death are her parents, Joe and Mary, and sister, Josie Lucero. A Rosary will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 1250 7th Street, Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, Fort Collins. Those who desire may view Beatrice on Thursday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W.
