Barry Giniger, 77, of Fort Collins passed away at his home on October 14th 2016.
Barry was born November 25th 1938 in Brooklyn , New York to Sol and Lillian Giniger. He graduated from City College of New York and spent his career in the Hospitality Industry.
During his career he was affiliated with several large Hospitality Companies. He was Director of Food Service Services for Gimbels, New York, Director of Food Facilities for J.C. Penney, and Regional Director for Ogden Food Service and Restaurant Associates, New York. Barry was responsible for the food and beverage operation during the development of Busch Gardens in California and Florida. He also organized special events for the Governor of Florida, the Mayor of New York, and the Commissioner of the NFL. He also designed the food service systems for the Superdome for three super bowls. As Director Food Facilities Development for J.C. Penney Co. he developed corporate sales promotions and marketing strategies as well as upgrading and establishing in-store menus. He planned the development and testing of recipes as well as writing the standards and specifications for over 400 recipes.As Regional Operations Director for Restaurant Associates Inc, he had full profit and loss responsibility for the operations of luxury restaurants including, Tavern on the Green, The Tower Suite, The Four Seasons, and The Golden Door at JFK Airport.
In 1986 Barry moved to Kansas City where he was Vice President of Operations for Biederman & Associates , a consulting firm that provided services to Marriott Corporation, Hardee'. Jack-In-The-Box, to name a few. In 1986 he moved to Philadelphia where he opened Varsity Club in the Galleria Mall.
He moved to Fort Collins in 1995 and worked for various Food Service Operations. He retired in 2007 due to ongoing health problems. He was an avid sports fan and never forgave the Brooklyn Dodgers for leaving New York, so he then became a Met's fan. He followed NBA, NFL, MBA & NHL intently.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Pacha-Giniger, daughters Kimberly Giniger of New York, Nicole Giniger Conrad (son-in-law ,Eric) and grandchildren, Sebastian and Simone Conrad of Philadelphia, PA , sister, Libby Kornberg brother-in-law Dr. Julius Kornberg and nephews David and Mitchell Kornberg, three stepsons Dan, Mark and Greg Pacha as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sol and Lillian Giniger.
Cremation has been completed and memorial services will be held in Brooklyn New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations to St. Jude's Hospital for Children in care of Bohlender Funeral Services in Fort Collins.
