Listen to Obituary
Barbara Vergean Wood, long time resident of Ft. Collins, passed away on May 12, 2017 following a debilitating stroke earlier in the month.

Vergean was born on November 20, 1921 to Velora Belle and George W. Williams in Tingley, IA. The family moved to Colorado in her teen years hoping the change would benefit her asthma condition. She was a graduate of South High School and attended Colorado A & M (CSU) majoring in nutrition.

A lifelong homemaker, Vergean taught their six children and many grandchildren essential life skills and how to love others. She was active in The Community of Christ Church, Church Women United, Larimer County Extension, Casa Grande HOA and a variety of volunteer outreach projects. Two of these involved sewing hundreds of pairs of panties to be included in back to school packs for needy children each year and knitting baby caps for the newborns at PVH.

She is survived by sons, Don (Karen) Wood, George (Dianne) Wood; daughters, Marcia (John) Mundell, Susan (Rick) Wood and Tina (Joel) Vosberg; sister, Donna Jagger; sons, Don (Karen) Wood thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.
