Barbara Ellen Watterson was born in Ellensburg, WA on January 30, 1936 and received the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation when she converted to the Roman Catholic Faith at the age of fifteen. She later received the Sacrament of Matrimony on February 4, 1954 and traveled the world with her husband, "Neil" who was active-duty United States Air Force for 20 years. They traveled to Germany, France, Spain, Holland, Italy and Luxembourg during his tours of duty. They settled in Fort Collins, CO in 1971, where Barbara remained a devoted wife and loving mother to her three children. She was very active in the Legion of Mary at Saint Joseph's Church and was a volunteer counselor at Birthright for many years. Barbara was an ardent supporter of the Right To Life Movement, volunteering her time and energy for over thirty years to Colorado Right to Life and Human Life International. Barbara's grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and she loved to spend time with each of them. Barbara asked after her grandchildren frequently and prayed for them daily. She cherished the time she spent with family and friends. Other than special times with her family, some of her most favorite adventures and fondest memories took place in Spain, Alaska and California. Barbara was an ardent Roman Catholic and her faith was extremely important to her. She attended daily Mass whenever possible and had a special devotion to our Blessed Mother. Indeed, her prayerful life remains a powerful blessing and eternal testament of her love for her family. Barbara was also a voracious reader, studying the Virtues, lives of the Saints, and other mystical, philosophical and theological topics of interest to her. She was an intelligent and articulate apologist of the Faith and taught private catechism classes to prepare young people for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Barbara was very active in a Catholic book club started by her best friend Vicki McCaffrey, which she enjoyed for many years. The time she spent with this group of women was a very important part of Barbara's life, which she was ever grateful for. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: LaVerne McEntyre and Mertie Cahoon, her daughter: Lisa LaVerne Watterson, her siblings: Richard McEntyre, Lowell McEntyre and half-sister Verna Mae Lovell. Barbara is survived by her adoring husband, Carneailous, sons: Paul Watterson and Richard Watterson wife Irene daughter Mary Watterson, grandchildren: John Watterson, Joseph Watterson, Tyler Watterson and Anne Watterson Munoz husband Jared and half-siblings: Jim McEntyre, Russell McEntyre, Elaine Henry and Carol Jean Thompson. A Rosary will be held August 25, 2014 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins, CO. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on August 26, 2014 at 9:30 am in Fort Collins, CO with Reception following in the Parrish Hall. Barbara will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery with her daughter, Lisa LaVerne Watterson, August 26, 2014 at 2:15, Staging Area C.
