Barbara Jean (Shaffer) Sweat was born in Fort Collins on November 5, 1935 to Alta and Glen Shaffer. She passed away on July 7, 2025. She was a devoted daughter, a loving wife to Robert Lee Sweat for 72 years, a mother to Mike Sweat (Kathy) and Deb House (Jim), grandmother to four grandchildren, and great-grandmother to seven.
Barbara dedicated 25 years as a beloved teacher, with a special fondness for her third-grade students. She and her husband retired to Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1995, where they shared their love of the mountains.
She was known for being quite feisty but always lovable. She was an avid fan of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Colorado State Rams.
Barbara's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
