Barbara L. Rivera, 90, of Fort Collins, died April 8, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Rivera was born February 20, 1924 in Prescott, Arizona to Nieves Mendoza and Dolores Rojas Mendoza. Barbara married John Rivera on September 23, 1950 in Fort Collins. John preceded her in death. Mrs. Rivera lived most of her life in the Fort Collins area. She worked for Poudre R1 for over 20 years in Personnel. Barbara retired from Poudre R1 in 1989. She was a life member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. Barbara enjoyed gardening and yard work. Survivors include her sons, Louis Rivera Bobbie of Windsor, Tim Rivera of Fort Collins; daughters, Mary Rivera Doug St. Clair of Marana, Arizona; brothers, Ben Mendoza of Coolidge, Arizona; niece and caregiver, Vina Solano; five grandchildren, Jalaine, Brian Allison, Nathan, Diego and Juan; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Camille and Carmen. She is also survived by a large extended family. Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, Nieves and Dolores; siblings, Adolfo Mendoza, Larry Mendoza, Mary Solano and Ana Garnica. A Rosary service will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Those who desire may view Mrs. Rivera from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
