Barbara Daugaard King passed away in the arms of her husband on June 1, 2021 after an eight month battle with brain cancer. Barb was born December 3, 1957 in Ida Grove, Iowa, the fifth of nine children of Wayne and Joann Daugaard.
The family moved to Colorado in 1965, and Barb attended schools across Fort Collins, including Putnam Elementary, where her grandson Ben is a student. Barb graduated from Poudre High School in 1976. Barb's career was primarily defined by her years at Anheuser-Busch. She was #1 in seniority in the Brewing Department at Anheuser-Busch, where she worked for almost 27 years.
Barb was tons of fun and had a lot of interests. She was a great softball player, where she excelled at first base. Barb was a voracious reader and an excellent cook. She loved to sit and think, and sometimes just sit. She will be remembered for how she loved her children - fiercely and unconditionally.
Barb loved to travel! She organized great camping trips every summer. She enjoyed her trips to Mexico and across Europe and loved the year that they lived in Australia. She also had so many memorable trips with her sisters and with her special friends Connie, Therese, Sherry, Gina and Jolynn. Barb was known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was the life of the party!
Barb is survived by her husband of 33 years Charles Larry King; children Jaime King Sense (Brian), Jeff King (Sarah), Andrea King and Davis King; grandchildren Dominique, Gabe, Ben, Colden and family dog Oscar. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Daugaard and is survived by her mother, Joann Daugaard and stepfather (affectionately referred to as "faux pa"), Don Christensen.
Left behind are Barb's eight heart-broken siblings - Mike Daugaard (Margo), Kathleen Bailey, Susan Baglee (David), Trish Zander (David), Mark Daugaard (Maureen), Matt Daugaard (Chris Cone), Karen Seeton, Jan Daugaard (Steve Manshel) and many nieces/nephews.
There will be a private internment. A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
Donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
