The "Glue" that held the Geiger family so close together through the years has left us till the 2nd coming of God. Barbara was born February 5, 1940 in Bluefield Virginia to Mable and Charles Matthews. She has two sisters, Caroline Matthews and Louise Sauder. Barbara married Frank Geiger on February 5, 1957. They welcomed five children in their life, Frank, Jeff, Kelly, Patrick, and Chuck. Out of these five children they welcomed twelve grandkids and six great-grandkids. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone who knew her. She was a people person who always loved to have people around, and when they were around her, she made them smile. Barbara went to Mt. Vernon Academy in Ohio where she met Frank Geiger. They fell in Love. Barbara and Frank decided to get married and keep it a secret. They both ran off to Indiana at the age of 17 years old. On February 5, 1957, Barbara's 17th birthday, Frank and Barbara were married. Barbara's passion was her family. She was a housewife and a stay at home mom that made sure her husband and kids were always taken care of. Even when all five kids were all grown up, she still called to make sure they were at home and safe. Being a housewife and stay at home was Barbara's dream and her husband Frank made that come true for her. Barbara loved kids so much that if she could have had ten kids she would have. Barbara was, "The Glue." In 2006 Barbara was diagnosed with Parkinson's. She fought for years to try to delay the process. Barbara was the most determined person to get better. The best memories of Barbara were on motorcycles in Moab. Oh, how she loved that! Even when she was sick she wanted to get better just to go four wheeling with the family. The Geiger Family would like to send their deepest gratitude to the nurses and the staff that took such good care of Barbara all through her illness.
