Barbara "Suzy" Poytress Dallow died on February 10, 2022. Suzy was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on February 29, 1948 to Earl Francis and Barbara (Baker) Poytress. A military brat, she grew up in California, New Hampshire, and the Washington, DC area, but often spent time with her grandparents in Oklahoma. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965. After marrying and moving from Virginia to Wichita Falls, Texas, Suzy attended Midwestern State University (BA, 1974) and did graduate coursework in political science. Her research focused on the Equal Rights Amendment. In Texas, she became active in politics and campaign work. She moved to Fort Collins in 1977.

Suzy rode horses as a child and encouraged her daughter Jessica to ride. After Jessica left for college, Suzy started riding again and breeding horses and ponies. She was an accomplished equestrian and competed in combined driving, show jumping, dressage, and eventing. She also hunted with the Arapahoe Hunt. Suzy loved dogs as well, especially Jack Russell terriers. Her other activities included collecting antiques, reading political biographies, and managing her Oklahoma mineral interests. She was incredibly creative and an amazing cook. Suzy was also opinionated and could talk to anyone about everything. She enjoyed her farm and the outdoors. If she wasn't riding, she was likely walking her dogs on the ditch road or driving the tractor.

Suzy is survived by her daughter Jessica Dallow (Matthew Coleman), her brother Earl Poytress, Jr. (Patricia), and her niece Victoria Lynch (Edwin). A celebration of life will be held at her home in Fort Collins, with a private burial in Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, the Larimer County Humane Society, or Colorado Horse Rescue.
