Barbara Marie Cornelius, known to her loved ones as Barb, passed away on February 22, 2024, at the age of 76 in Lafayette, Colorado after suffering from significant health issues for numerous years. She was born on February 17, 1948, in Yokosuka, Japan, to Robert and Carol Gale.
Barb was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She was described as kind, generous, funny, athletic, and creative. Prior to her passing, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard L Cornelius (Dick), sister Terrie Godfrey, and her parents.
Barb is survived by her daughters, Stacey Farquhar (Stacy) of Broomfield, CO, Melissa Brown (Raymond) of Frederick, CO, stepdaughter Leslie Daveler (Mike) of Langhorne, PA, stepson Richard A. Cornelius (Kelly) of Fort Collins, CO, sister Nancy Dreier (Greg Esmay) of Lake Havasu, AZ, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Western High School in Anaheim, CA, in 1966, and later attended the Southern California College of Medical Assistants in 1971. Barb started her career as a Medical Assistant in California before moving to Colorado and then she worked as an Executive Office Manager in the food service industry with the love of her life, Dick. After working in the food service industry she became a Bridal Consultant, a role she adored.
Barb was a member of Faith Evangelical Church in Fort Collins, Colorado, for many years. Prior to considerable health issues that complicated her life, she enjoyed various hobbies, including tennis, volunteering at the BMP Paribas tennis tournament in Indian Wells, California, crocheting, quilting, the art of quilling, and jigsaw puzzles. She was a social individual who loved spending time with her friends and family.
A funeral service and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W Olive St, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in Barb's memory. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
