Listen to Obituary
Born on January 14, 1930 to A.J. and Edna Chilcoate Patterson in Laramie, Wyoming. Barbara spent her childhood years in Laramie until the family relocated to Ft. Collins in the early 1940's. She attended Ft. Collins High School, where she loved singing in the choir and where she met the love of her life, Dean Berg. She attended Colorado State University as music major, where she was also a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Barbara married Dean Berg in 1950, and they settled into a wonderful life in Ft. Collins, where Dean owned Hughes Men's' Wear and managed Julian's Women's Wear, where Barbara was instrumental in assisting Dean in many aspects of running both stores. Barbara also worked for 20 years for Colorado State University in the Range Science Department, where she was the executive assistant to the Dean and assisted graduate researchers. Though the years, she actively supported her daughters' musical and academic pursuits, and was particularly involved with Girl Scouts. Barbara and Dean also enjoyed their many friends and social activities, including bridge clubs, the Elks Club, and Kiwanis. For many years, Dean and Barb could be found hiking or cross country skiing with their friends and family members in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Barbara passed away on February 13th, 2016 after a long illness. She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband, Dean; her three daughters, Debbie Glaze (David) of Lake Oswego, Oregon and grandsons Ryan (Shelley) and Tyler; Linda Gutstadt (Don) of Centennial, Colorado and granddaughters Lauren and Caitie; and Diane Zielke of Burbank, California and grandson Kiel and granddaughter Courtney; and great grandson Hudson Dean Glaze.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Collins.
