Audrey Katherine Dobbs

Audrey Katherine Dobbs, 91, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Aledo, Illinois, died August 24, 2015 at the Good Samaritan home in Fort Collins, surrounded by her family. Audrey was born in Aledo, Illinois June 13, 1924 to Fred and Agatha Babcock. She attended Aledo school district and went on to attend Monmouth College. Audrey taught school for a short time in and around Mercer County, and then moved to Chicago to work in advertising and retail.

While living in Chicago she met Ed Dobbs, her future husband and soul mate. Ed and Audrey were married in Davenport, Iowa in 1949. They moved to Aledo, where they co-owned and operated the family drugstore, Babcock's Pharmacy, with Audrey's father, Fred Babcock. Audrey and Ed had a full and happy life together for 53 years. In their retirement they spent winters in Clearwater, Florida.

Audrey was an enthusiastic collector and seller of antiques, an avid sports fan, and had a passion for cooking. She also had a wonderful, uplifting sense of humor that kept everyone smiling. Above all, Audrey was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Meneghin and husband, Bruce of Fort Collins, Colorado; her son, Scott Dobbs of Fort Collins, Colorado; and her granddaughter, Maggie Meneghin and husband, Cole Jones of Harrisburg, Oregon.

Audrey's life will be celebrated at a Memorial Gathering at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Village Chapel, 508 W. Trilby Road, Fort Collins. Graveside services will be held in Aledo, Illinois at a later date.
