Arthur (Grumpy Bear) Maxwell was called home on Tuesday morning, October 30, 2018. Art was born to Arthur, Sr. and Mary Maxwell on July 14, 1934 in Larimer County Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colorado and lived most of his life in Ft. Collins. He served aboard the USS Shangri-La (CVA-38) from 1955-57. After the Navy, Art married Gloria Martinez on March 13, 1959 and together they had six children. Art worked in the Laborer's Union for much of his working life. He loved Bingo and going "up the hill" to Central City.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Maxwell; sister Patricia Hailey; daughter-in-law Cheryl Sisneros and family: J.D. (Jackie) Sisneros, Jaycee (Preston) Bierman, Lucas Sisneros, and Adam (Liz) Sisneros; daughter, Sandra (Joe) Menchaca and family: Lee (Tina) Menchaca, Adrianna Menchaca, and Nicolle Menchaca; son, Robin (Kim) Sisneros and family: Cassandra Sisneros, Alexa Sisneros and Brandon Sisneros; daughter, Loretta (Larry) Lucero and family: Ernie Borrego, Arthur (Dee) Borrego, and Mario (Jenn) Borrego; daughter, Jeanne Maxwell (James Mondragon) and family: Crystal Maxwell and Wade (Monica) Maxwell; daughter, Phyllis Maxwell (Joe Salas) and family: Monica Solano, Sondra (David) Lozano, Joaquin (Christina) Jiron, and Jesse (Brittany) Duron;; as well as 42 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Levina Montoya; son, James Sisneros; and grandson Eddie Jiron, II.
Viewing will be held 9 am - 4 p.m., Monday, 11/5/18 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. with the Funeral Mass with Military Honors at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 11/6/18 at Holy Family Catholic Church. A reception will immediately follow the mass at the Knights of Columbus. Private Interment, Resthaven Memory Gardens.
