Anton "Kip" Charles Scholl Jr. (1946 - 2023)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Anton "Kip" Charles Scholl Jr. of Fort Collins, Colorado, who passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 77.

Kip was born on September 5, 1946, in Jamaica, New York, to the late Anton C. Scholl Sr. and Katherine (Stokely) Scholl. A brilliant light in the lives of those who knew him, Kip's passion for life was evident in every pursuit he undertook.

A standout honors student, Kip graduated from Sidney High School in 1964, where he left his mark as an Eagle Scout, engaging in ambitious ventures such as traversing the Philmont Scout Ranch. He carried his zest for learning and achievement into his collegiate years, earning an Electrical Engineering degree from SUNY Delhi and later, an MBA from Colorado State University.

Kip's professional tenure at Hewlett Packard in Fort Collins was marked by dedication and innovation until his retirement. His colleagues remember him not just for his technical expertise but for his mentorship and friendship.

Music was one of Kip's lifelong companions, and he began this journey with a clarinet in fourth grade. His talent blossomed as he mastered the saxophone, which eventually led to joyous weekends filled with the tunes of the Colorado Swing Big Band and other local ensembles.

Kip was a soul of varied interests—from the precision of his engineering mind to serving as an acolyte in his childhood at Zion Episcopal Church where he achieved the God & Country Boy Scout award.

Colorado won Kip's heart over five decades ago, offering him a playground for skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and sailing. His love for photography was as much about capturing beauty as it was about cherishing memories, a passion that served as a companion on his global adventures from the Galapagos Islands to the peaks of Machu Picchu.

His departure leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of his beloved partner, Leigh Ann Smith; his sister, Caroline Black; his nephew, Kurt (Mary) Black; his niece, Jill (Chris) Gaughan; and the many friends and relatives blessed to know him. Kip was a testament to a life well-lived and well-loved.

A celebration of Kip's life will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel in Fort Collins Colorado, on November 8th, 2023 at 5:00pm to be followed by a reception featuring a live performance in his honor by his surviving band members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kip's honor to the Boy Scouts of America, reflecting his lifelong commitment to scouting.

Kip's final resting place will be at the family plot at Hillington Cemetery in Morris NY. The legacy of his kind spirit, passion for exploration, and the joy he brought to every room will be dearly missed.
