Anthony A. "Tony" Panella, 52, of Fort Collins, died Feb. 5, 2007. Tony was born Jan. 13, 1955, to Angelo and Clara Panella. He graduated from Poudre High School in 1973. After that he went on to join the Army Airborne and was a Ranger for four years. He was a rifle expert and hand grenade expert. He was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Army Achievement Medal/ Army Service Ribbon. Tony also served in the Army Reserves for nine years. Tony's recent occupation was a semi driver for HVH Transportation for which he received many safety awards. Tony married Deborah Carter on Oct. 29, 1988. To this union they had two sons. Tony enjoyed his family, life, the outdoors and especially playing golf and his dogs. Survivors include Tony's two sons, Robert and Mark Panella both of Fort Collins; Debbie Panella of Fort Collins; mother, Clara Panella of Fort Collins; two brothers, Carmen Karen Panella and Dominic Barbara Panella, both of Fort Collins; three sisters, Margie Insko of Ramona, Calif., Odie Jim Bliss of Severance and Regina Becky Roetjer of Laporte. He is preceded in death by his father, grandparents and uncles. A prayer vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., today at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with military honors by the All Veterans Honor Guard will follow the mass at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
