Ann Walker Callahan passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at Golden Peaks Care and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Collins, where she had been a resident for many years.
Mrs. Walker Callahan was born July 14, 1916 in Canon City, Colorado to George Peter and Ada Catherine Holzfaster Schneider on October 28, 1936. Ann married Alfred Elmore Walker in Westcliffe, Colorado. They made their home near Portal, Arizona for several years before moving to Canon City in 1951, Colorado Springs in 1960 and Fort Collins in 1965. After Elmore passed away in 1971, Ann married Earl Callahan in 1978 in Fort Collins. He passed away in 2005.
Mrs. Walker Callahan is also preceded in death by her son, William "Bill" Walker; sister, Mae Isabell; brothers, George J. Schneider and Aloys "Moon" Schneider; granddaughters, Barbara Walker and Cherie Walker; grandsons, Benjamin Walker and Daniel Walker.
Survivors include her two sons, Dennis E. Walker of Fort Collins, George L. Walker (Rebecca) of Dora, Missouri; sister, Mary Kattnig of Westcliffe, Colorado; grandchildren, Debra Walker of Fort Collins, Melissa Walker of Ashburn, Virginia, Darcey Walker of Fort Collins, Tammy Fuller of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Matthew Walker of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Jennifer Sternberg of Nashville, Tennessee, Courtney Strong of Springfield, Missouri, Chance Strong of Gainesville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walker Callahan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt and was loved by everyone she met.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
