Alvin L. Hunke, 78, of Ft. Collins, passed away at Medical Center of the Rockies on August 9, 2013. Alvin was born December 9, 1934 in West Point, Nebraska to Henry W. Hunke and Theresa Ulrich Hunke. Alvin served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Alvin then married Lorraine R. Peatrowsky on April 3, 1956 in West Point. They moved to Ft. Collins in 1973. He was a farmer, a truck driver, and for the past 25 years owned Hunke's Janitorial Services. Alvin belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. Survivors include his wife Lorraine Hunke of Ft. Collins; three children, Susan K. Cardona of Wellington, Gary L. Hunke of Phoenix, Arizona, and Diane M. Matthews of Loveland; 4 sisters, Bernice Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma, Marie Kampschneider of Dodge, Nebraska, Luetta Evert and Camilia Schlautman both of West Point; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding Alvin in death are his parents, a brother, and one sister. A Rosary will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A private interment with military honors will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Catholic Charities in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
