Alfred "Al" Hinz, 85, of Fort Collins went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2010. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on June 21, 1924 to Violette Hayman and Alfred William Hinz, Sr.
Al married Carol Johnson on May 1, 1943 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wheaton, Illinois. He graduated from Crane Technical High School in Chicago, Illinois. Al served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1941–1945. He was on the USS Guadalcanal Aircraft Carrier stationed at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida. He went to trade school for 3 years and completed an apprenticeship to be a journeyman carpenter. Al worked in Wheaton, Illinois as a Construction Superintendent at Durable Construction for 20 years. He then moved his family to Castle Rock, Colorado and spent 4 years as a real estate broker with Brock-Hinz Realtors. He later moved to Fort Collins where he worked as a subcontractor for Wood Brothers Construction for 14 years. Al was an avid hunter and fisherman for most of his life. Al was preceded in death by his daughter, Calmae Bergman. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Carol; son and daughter-in-law, William and Debbie Hinz of LaHabra Heights, California; daughter and sons-in-law, Donna and Pat Nevin of Broomfield, Colorado and Barbara and Eric Baldwin of Denver, Colorado; son in law, Brian Bergman husband of the late Calmae Bergman of LaHabra Heights; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., March 1, 2010 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment with Military Honors by the Denver All Veterans Honor Guard will be held 2:15 p.m., Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area "C", Denver, Colorado.
