Alfred Eugene Dale passed peacefully on September 22, 2016. He was born Alfred Eugene Gransberry in Viney, Kansas on October 16, 1929. At the age of 3, he was adopted by Neil and Delores Dale. He grew up in Kansas and Colorado.

At the age of 17 he joined the Marines in 1947. After boot camp he went to sea school and was assigned to the USS Helena until April 1950, completing his tour in Seattle, Washington. He enlisted in the reserves at discharge. He was called to duty in October 1950, was in the Korean War, returned home December 1951. The reserve duty lasted until 1971. He was a member of the Marine League Det 785 and DAV.

In June 1950 he met his pen pal, Peggy and they were married July 1950. They moved to Ft. Collins in 1954. He worked as an auto mechanic and finally opened his own shop in February 1989, Auto Parts Machine. He worked as an auto machinist retiring December 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ernest and a sister, Shirley Smysor. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters, Janice Harden (Paul), Linda Ashley (Brian), Sherry Prego (Lou); and son, Delbert (Faye); 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
