Alfonso LePera, 85, of Fort Collins, died at Poudre Valley Hospital on June 20, 2012. Al LePera was born November 5, 1926 in West Des Moines, Iowa to James and Louise "Cala" LePera. Al married Sharon G. Larson in 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Al, "Pic", as known by childhood friends and family has lived in Fort Collins for the last seven years. He moved here from West Des Moines, Iowa, where he was a supervisor with the West Des Moines, Water Department for twenty seven years. He was a veteran of the Army, where he served in WWII in the Pacific. Al was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman, and sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching his grandsons participate in all sports. Al also enjoyed golf and played football in his younger years. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; daughter, Pam Phil Miller of Fort Collins, and three grandchildren, Zach Katie Miller, Colby Miller and Rylan Miller and one great-grandchild, Meredith Grace Miller. He is also survived by his sister, Philamena Geringer of Springfield, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by one brother. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Stover St. on Monday at 3:00 p.m. Burial of cremains will follow the service at St. Luke's Memorial Garden. Father Andrew Cooley will officiate the service.
