Mavis Aileen Bowen, 82, of Fort Collins went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2012. She was born May 24, 1930 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Truman and Ruth Harsha. She married William Bill Bowen, her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, on May 22, 1950 in Point Loma, California where he was serving in the US Navy San Diego. Aileen graduated in 1948 from Wheaton College Academy in Chicago, Illinois, and then attended John Brown University in Arkansas. She sung in the University Cathedral Choir which aired over campus radio on Sundays. She was a member of the Christian Women's Club and a guide-teacher in Pioneer Girl's Club at First Baptist Church of Fort Collins. She taught Sunday School and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She supported her husband with his family business and enjoyed group-home Bible studies. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother, always sharing her deep faith and love of her Lord Jesus Christ with everyone she met. Preceding Aileen in death were her parents; sister, Evelyn Zimmerman; infant sister, Helen Harsha and brother, Truman Harsha, Jr. She is survived by her deeply devoted husband, Bill; two sons, Spense and Tom Christine; and two daughters, Deborah Gardner Bill, and Carol Hill Ken. There are also 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Grace Presbyterian Church or Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
