Abram Stanley Fluck received his heavenly reward on November 19, 2022. He was born to Abram Thomas Fluck and Pearl Erb (Sterner) Fluck on Sunday morning, June 20th, 1926 in at the family home on Green Street in Lansdale PA. He always let people know that the was born in time to attend church service, but he did not understand why his parents did not take him to church that day. He went by Stanley and was the second of seven children (Grace, Stanley, Marjorie, Harold, Ray, Roy and Ruth). While a young child the family moved a few miles to a small acreage on Orvilla Road in Hatfield PA. His family was very active in Lansdale Church of God (now New Hope Fellowship). He attended Hatfield schools. Prior to graduation, he started working for the local post office to help support his family.
He was drafted into the US Army in October 1944. His basic training was in Texas and then he ended his military service as a payroll Sargent at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. After his military service, he returned to Pennsylvania and completed his schooling in 1947.
Stanley attended Anderson College, located in Anderson Indiana, majoring in Accounting and Bible. While attending college, he worked at Delco Remy. After graduating, Stanley worked for Laymen Life Insurance and the Board Extension of the Church of God, both in Anderson.
Stanley met his first wife Elfrieda Breitkreutz from Edmonton Alberta at North Anderson Church of God. Stanley was the church treasurer and he ended one of his annual reports by announcing that he and Elfrieda were engaged. They were married on January 15, 1954. Then Stanley became an insurance agent with Preferred Risk Insurance companies. In 1959 he and Elfrieda became parents of their only child, Daniel.
In early 1964, Stanley sold his insurance practice, purchased a pickup with a camper and he, Elfrieda and Dan embarked on a looping trip around the western states to find a drier climate due to Elfrieda and Dan's health. They ended up in Fort Collins Colorado. They left the camper in the care of a member of Crestmore Church of God (Now PEAK Community Church) and returned to Anderson to load up their belongings and return to Fort Collins for good in early June of 1964.
Stanley got a temporary position with the post office. Then he got a job as an accountant with L&L Lumber company. To this he added a job selling Watkins products door to door. Then he became a full-time Amway distributor selling door to door. In 1967 the family moved the house right next to the Crestmore Church of God. In the early 70's, Crestmore Church of God moved to 500 Mathews Street and became First Church of God. In 1981, Stanley and Elfrieda moved to live about 2 blocks from the church. For more than 40 years he lovingly "woke up" the church and "put it to bed" every day
In the 1970's Stanley changed his Amway role to part time, and obtained an accounting position with Heath Farm Equipment. He then worked in the stockroom at Waterpik. His last employment was as the Janitor at PEAK Community Church.
In August of 1988, his wife Elfrieda passed away. Stanley was lucky enough to find companionship and love a second time and married F. Geraldine Day in November 1989. One day in 2005, Stanley called his son and told him that of that day Stanley had been married for 50 years and it was his golden anniversary. His son replied that the golden anniversary is when you have been married to the same woman for 50 years, not two different women for a total of 50 years.
In October, 2009, his wife Geraldine passed away. In December 2010, Stanley moved to the DMA Plaza at 300 Remington Street. In the summer of 2011, Stanley had an incident in the church parking lot where he got out of his car while it was in gear and almost ran over himself with his own car. His son confiscated the keys and took him to the doctor where the son found out that the doctor had been telling him for three years that he should not be driving. That is also when the diagnosis of memory loss due to old age was made.
Stanley continued to walk to church when the sidewalks were free of ice and snow. On those days his son insisted that he get a ride to church. The last few years at the DMA Plaza he needed rides as walking was no longer an option.
On New Year's Day 2020, Stanley was very ill. His son called 911 and they took him to the ER at Poudre Valley Hospital. Stanley was severely dehydrated and had a very high sodium level. He then went to rehab and made great progress (in spite of catching Norovirus) and was approved to return to his apartment. Shortly after returning to his apartment, he was in bad shape. Another ambulance ride to ER. This time he had pneumonia. He was treated for a period of time and went back to rehab. There was a delay with paperwork and when the rehab went to check him in, he had spiked a fever. Back again to ER and he still has pneumonia. This time, he did not make good progress and entered Hospice, becoming a resident of Columbine West Health and Rehab (CWHR). While Stanley was at CHWR, he was diagnosed with Covid twice, but was asymptomatic both times. Stanley improved and graduated from Hospice in July of 2020.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Elfrieda, his wife Geraldine, his parents, his older sister Grace Kratz, his sister Margery as an infant and his brother Harold.
