Abel Martinez, 45, of Fort Collins, died May 15, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Martinez was born May 24, 1959, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Oracio Martinez and Maria Venerauda "Bennie" Abeyta Martinez. Mr. Martinez lived more than 30 years in Fort Collins and worked as an operator of heavy equipment. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Loretta Herrera, of Fort Collins; three sons, Abel Martinez Jr., of Fort Collins, and Gabriel and Michael Martinez, both of Loveland; three daughters, Anna Lujan and Detra Elizalde, both of Fort Collins, and Racheal Martinez, of Gillete, Wyo.; two brothers, Tony and Joe Martinez, both of Fort Collins; three sisters, Virginia Vigil and Theresa Medina, both of Fort Collins, and Mary Lopez, of California; and eight grandchildren, Anthony Lujan, Suriah Elizalde, Adam Lujan, Midajah Lopez, Abraham Lujan, Anastasia Herrera, Andrew Lujan, and Tiana Martinez. Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Oracio Jr., Raymond, and Johnny Martinez; and a sister, Lillian Lopez. A prayer vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
