After her high school graduation, she married Manuel Moreno, her husband of 56 years - they had two children Eddie (beloved wife Louise, 2007), and Rita Garcia (Andrew). Vera was very involved in her church and formed a club at Holy Family Church (St. Francis), and also organized a King and Queen bazaar. She worked at CSU for 32 years. The majority of the 32 years, as a receptionist at Ingersoll Hall. International House at CSU was named after Manuel and Vera, after their combined 70 years of dedicated service at CSU. She was known as "Mom" to many CSU students over the years. She later became a member of the SOAP group at the Senior Center and was in many plays. Her open invitation to anyone to family gatherings became regular - she always made sure to include everyone. Her food specialties were tortillas, green chili, fideo, beans, barbecue ribs, and spaghetti. Her hard work and determination continued through her life as she wrote and published three novels and was an avid reader. Sewing and making clothes for her daughter and granddaughter were another passion of hers. Vera was preceded in death by her husband Manuel, daughter-in-law Louise, her five sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her two children, a brother, five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 am, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
