Roger Hollis, 54, of Fort Collins, went peacefully on Sept. 6, 2008 at the Hospice of Larimer County Unit at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, surrounded by family and friends after a year long battle with cancer. Mr. Hollis was born Aug. 29, 1954, in Indiana, Pa. to Carl Hollis and Dorothy Silvis Hollis. Roger was raised in Bergen, N. Y. and graduated from Byron-Bergen High School in 1972. Roger married Kerrie Palmateer on Sept. 10, 1977 in Batavia, N.Y. Roger enjoyed traveling, camping, and helping others. He was an avid woodworker and all-around handyman who loved life and especially his family. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Kerrie Palmateer; a son, Timothy Hollis and his wife, Krystal of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Sara Hollis of Fort Collins; his mother, Dorothy Hollis of Batavia, N.Y.; one brother, Gordon Hollis of Marysville, Wash.; four sisters, Karen Collette of Medina, N.Y., Kathy Hollis of Rochester, N. Y., Jeanette Ryder of Spencerport, N.Y., Charlene Frazier of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Ryan Carl Hollis and Cody Matthew Hollis; numerous nieces and nephews, and friends, Steve and Cheryl Comfort and their family. Preceding Roger in death was his father, Carl Max Hollis. The family would especially like to thank Brooke Willow, Hospice of Larimer County and the Dream Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Unity Church, 1401 Vine Dr. Pastor Lynn Kendall will officiate at the service. Please dress casually as that was the way Roger's life was. A memorial service will also be held at Barre Center Presbyterian Church in Albion, New York at a later date.
