    Kendra Ann Stutheit

    September 2, 1955 - September 20, 2019

Kendra “Kendy” Stutheit (64) died September 20 following an incredibly brave and very difficult fight with leukemia. Kendy was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, a fact she was always quick to brag about. However, she grew up in Littleton where she lived for 35 years before moving to Fort Collins with her loving and always supportive parents, Geri and Wil Stutheit. Kendy was a beloved worker at the Downtown Fort Collins Ace Hardware store for 19 years. Her favorite activities were “scooching” with her Beltie. This meant hugging, petting and loving her sister’s Beagle Sheltie mix whom she called Vivi. The two had a special bond that kept Kendy going even during the hardest times. Kendy was the best doting aunt ever to Vivi and Sylvester the cat. She loved to knit, read magazines and recipes, make lists, create nicknames for people, listen to the radio, tickle people, share the daily weather forecast, watch cartoons and tv shows (Stewie from the Family Guy, Mr. Ed, the Paw Patrol, and the Doctors were a few of her favorites). She also liked singer Keith Urban, Wheaten Terriers, Travis Stork (from the Doctors) and all things Irish. Kendy constantly studied dog books and could tell people specific details about all breeds. Every Sunday she found great joy in cutting coupons from the newspaper to use during her important and routine weekly grocery shopping trips. She had an uncanny memory for many things, including identifying song titles and the singers as well as important calendar dates. Kendy had a very quick wit and sense of humor that made people happy and sometimes humbled. Throughout her life, Kendy educated people about the incredible abilities and talents she possessed despite developmental challenges. She also taught us how to find joy in simple things. Kendy was loved by the staff in the Oncology unit at Poudre Valley Hospital, who gave her incredibly kind and compassionate care. She had a very special life-long bond with her surviving sister, Lynn, better known as “Monkey.” She loved her mother (Geri), who was always there for Kendy until her death in 2018 and her surviving father, Wil, who sat by Kendy’s bedside in the hospital every day. She loved laughing with her surviving brothers, Brian, aka “Baby Dumplings” and Paul Stutheit. Also surviving Kendy are her niece, Leslie, nephew, Drew, sister-in-law Kathy Ballinger and many other caring relatives, friends and dear care companions including Karen, Judy, Cody and John. Kendy would appreciate us signing off with some sayings like “Shazbot!” from the old Mork and Mindy show and “Tha thhaaa atss All Folks.” In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts in Kendy’s honor can be made by check or online to Foothills Gateway, Inc. 301 W. Skyway Dr., Fort Collins, CO 80525/or online at www.foothillsgateway.org. No memorial service is planned, but the family would love to receive your thoughts as well as memories of and special moments with Kendy. Please send these in cards or letters to the Stutheit Family at 508 E. Plum St. Fort Collins, CO 80524.
