James Alexander Cox, Jr.
September 21, 1937 - February 12, 2022
A Texas Aggie to the end, Jim passed away under the maroon and white colors of his A&M blanket February, 12, 2022. He was 84. Jim started practicing architecture in Fort Collins in the early 1970s leaving a legacy of modern buildings (several award winning) across the Front Range and Wyoming. He was also active in the Fort Collins and Loveland Historical Preservation groups helping save buildings, most notably, the Avery House. Jim was a strong supporter of local business and made fast friends with many business owners in Fort Collins and Loveland and was active in both the Fort Collins and Loveland DDA. An amateur photographer he was always the guy with the big camera around his neck taking pictures at family gatherings, in nature, and of course, of buildings. He was an avid fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and had visited nearly all his built projects at some point. He is dearly missed by his family, friends, and community.
