Felipe Mercado

Felipe Mercado, 73, of Fort Collins, died October 18, 2009 at home. Mr. Mercado was born June 22, 1936 in Harlingen, Texas to Pedro Mercado and Gavina Ramos. Mr. Mercado has been in Fort Collins for 35 year. Felipe was employed at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant for over 20 years. He belonged to the Coffee Club at the Silver Grill Café and his drinking bar was the Trail Head. Survivors include his son, Felipe Mary Mercado, Jr; daughters, Norma Alicia Mercado, and Elizabeth Miguel Rosales, all of Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Amelia Ramos of Fort Collins; 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, Preceding Felipe in death are his ex-wife, Ludivina Elizaldo; and his parents. A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. A wake will be held at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, 148 West Mountain Avenue, Tuesday, 5-7:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Rio Grande Restaurant.
