    Duane Julis Loetz

    February 29, 1932 - February 3, 2022

    Dr. Duane Loetz, DDS, was a local Dentist for over 35 years. He enjoyed his patients, staff, spending time with family, singing songs and telling jokes. He was one in a Million! He was the youngest son of Julius Loetz and Lucille Loetz. He had a brother Merle, wife Ann; and a sister Betty Friend, and husband Richard. He was in the Army and separated from the Army as a Specialist 3rd Class. He met Colleen O’Leary while they were both in the Army, and they married in May 1955. Duane and Colleen had three children, Patricia Benton, husband Dick; Michael Loetz, and Catherine Dietz, husband Fred. He entered Dental school in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from Dental School, he returned to Fort Collins and set up his practice here in Fort Collins. He built his own office building on Riverside Avenue in 1978. The office had an outdoor feel with living plants and trees in the waiting area. Duane was a member of United Presbyterian Church for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir. Colleen passed away in 1989. He met Geraldine Lang in early 1998 and they were married that November. Duane retired in 2002. He and Geri traveled, he tinkered around the house, sang songs and told jokes to everyone that would listen. He enjoyed his life. He was preceeded in death by his parents, his wife Colleen, his son Michael, his sister Betty. He is survived by his wife Geri, brother Merle, daughter Patricia, daughter Catherine, and three grandchildren; Sean Martin, Rachael Dietz and Jacob Dietz. He is also survived by Geri’s children; Marilyn Williams, David Lang and Linda Cox; her Grandchildren: Stephanie Hicks and Sandy Morrissey, her great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 17 at 2:00 pm.
