    Carol Gillen

    April 14, 1945 - May 3, 2022

Carol Gillen April 14th, 1945 - May 3rd, 2022 On May 3rd, 2022 Carol Gillen passed away at her home in Loveland, Colorado. She was held by her loving husband and daughter. She was strong to the last, never complaining about the health issues that ultimately caused her passing, always putting her family first. A true Yorkshire Lass, Carol was born in Sheffield, England on April 14th, 1945 to Arnold and Sally Green. She attended City Grammar School followed by Nonington College in Kent, where she trained to be a Physical Education teacher. She met Tony Gillen, a fellow teacher at Penistone Grammar School. They married in 1969. In 1997 they emigrated to the United States, a country they had grown to love. Carol is survived by her loving husband Tony, her son Padma Gillen in England, daughter Laura Gillen and son-in-law Chris LaRive in South Dakota. One sister, Audrey Greaves in England. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Sally, her sister May Green and her brother-in-law Roy Greaves (truly like a big brother to her). She loved to travel and to see beautiful countryside. Some of her favorite places were Curbar Edge and Padley Gorge in Derbyshire, the Gulf Coast in Florida, and Horsetooth Reservoir in Colorado. Always a sports-lover, Carol was passionate about tennis and never missed an Andy Murray game. She loved to help her family and friends, maintaining many life-long relationships. Most of all, she was passionate about being a Mum and was thrilled later to become“Grandmo” to her bonus grandson, Mason. A Visitation for friends will be held from 4:00-5:00pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524. The family will privately celebrate her life following Carol’s wishes. She was never one for attention.
