Andrea W. Hansen
April 17, 1928 - January 6, 2022
Andrea was born on April 17th, 1928, in Helper, Utah, to Harry and Louexes Whittaker. She lived a happy, contented youth in the small coal mining town of Castlegate, Utah. She had one brother, whom she loved dearly. With the influence of the Church of Latter Day Saints, her days were spent exploring the outdoors, attending church functions, going to school and reading! Andrea attended the University of Utah, and received a bachelor’s degree and her teaching credential. She went on to teach middle school language arts for more than 30 years. In 1949, she married the love of her life, James Hansen. In 1965, they moved the family to Arvada, CO, and lived there for the rest of their married life. They were married for 67 years, until Jim's death. Together they raised three daughters. During their many years together, they traveled the world, with trips to Europe, Africa, South America, and New Zealand. In their retirement years, they became snowbirds and spent many happy winters in Sun City, Arizona. After Jim’s passing, Andrea moved to Fort Collins to be close to her daughter. She was the grandmother of four, great-grandmother of seven. As Andrea aged, one of her favorite sayings was, “Growing old isn’t for sissies.” She always met life’s challenges head on and is now resting in God’s peace. Family has planned a memorial service at a future time.
