Virginia Ayala Santos, died at home in Fort Collins on March 15, 2009. She lived all 80 years of her life in Fort Collins. Virginia was born on December 6, 1928 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, to Albert Ayala and Rita Maciel Ayala. She married David B. Santos at Holy Family Church in Fort Collins, on September 12, 1946. Virginia and David have two children, Albert and Rita. Virginia was a homemaker all her life. She had many diverse hobbies including artist, craftsperson, chef, and inventor. She was awarded a U.S. patent for her automatic tortilla maker. She was busy right up to her last days, her last project was remodeling the dining room in their home, which she completed in December 2008. Virginia is survived by David B. Santos, her husband of 62 years; and her children, Albert J. Santos of Loveland, and Rita Daniel St. John of Fort Collins. She was a loving and caring grandmother of four, Patrick Jayme Santos of Wellington, Chris Kim Santos of Loveland, Greg Kayla Ortega St. John of Evans, and Jennifer St. John of Fort Collins. She was blessed with three great grandchildren, Elijah and Joshua sons of Patrick and Jayme, and Adam son of Chris and Kim. She is also survived by her sister, Delores Ayala of Brighton; and brother, Albert Susan Ayala of Fort Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Ayala; and sisters, Socorro Rena Holman and Eleanor Valdez. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday March 20, 2009, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Virginia's brother-in-law, Deacon Nick Santos, will officiate the service. A private internment service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
