Listen to Obituary
Virginia "Ginny" Leah Coover died on Oct. 15, 2005, in Fort Collins. Ginny was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Holyoke to Leona Wettstein and John Woodward. She attended school in Holyoke and lived and worked in Denver after graduation. Ginny moved to Fort Collins in 1961 with her family. She worked at Colorado State University, contracts and grants accounting, for 29 years, retiring in 1994. Ginny was a champion bowler, an avid reader and a volunteer at the Fort Collins Senior Center. She chaired the Senior Center's Goodwill Gang Coordinating Committee, the group charged with overseeing the volunteer operations. She also performed clerical duties and spent many hours sending out sympathy, birthday and thank-you cards to the hundreds of volunteers who work at the center. Ginny enjoyed volunteer work, but she found her greatest delight in spending time with her family. She will be missed by those who survive her, her children, Renny Taranto, of Greeley, Marty Coover, of Fort Collins, Megan Coover, of Wellington, and Steve Coover, of Fort Collins; her sister, Kay Rios, of Fort Collins; her brother, Jack Woodward, of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Ginny was preceded in death by her mother, Leona "Sally" Jackson, and her sister, Vivienne Woodward. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Larimer County, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 West Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
