Verle L. Woodard, 88, of Wellington, died November 16, 2010. Mr. Woodard was born March 11, 1922 in Thayer, Iowa to Roscoe and Mertie West Woodard. Verle moved with his family at age 7 from Iowa to Colorado living in Akron, Platteville/Gilcrest and Fort Lupton. He attended school in Platteville. Verle married Nellie B. Ontis in Benkelman, Nebraska on July 7, 1941. They had two children, Larry Neale and Sharon Kay. Mr. Woodard worked as a heavy equipment operator for Weld County Road and Bridge crew at Platteville for twenty five years. He retired and moved to Wellington in 1987, where he lived until June of 2010, when he moved to Poudre Canyon with his daughter, Sharon. Verle enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and rebuilding old cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, telling stories and teasing everyone. He spent many summers helping Sharon and Rose hosting camp grounds in the Poudre Canyon and Red Feather Lakes. He enjoyed music, writing songs, playing guitar and mouth harp at the same time, playing the organ and singing. He was also a member of the IOOF Lodge #100 and Blue Bird Rebekahs in Fort Lupton. Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Bob Conley of Poudre Canyon; grandchildren, Cynthia Infante, Jeffery Conley, Steven Conley, all of Wellington, Vickie Pacella of Loveland, Kathy Woodard of Denver, Brian Woodard of Fort Collins, David Anderson of Wiggins, daughter in law, Rose Woodard of Fort Collins; fifteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eileen Vaughn of Denver, Verda Ray Roth and Irene Lacy, both of Greeley, and Imogene Robert Grauberger of Windsor. Preceding Verle in death are his six brothers, Vernon, Marvin, Adrian, Carmen, Raymond and Virsel; both parents; wife, Nellie; son, Larry; and nephew, Dale Grauberger. A Graveside Service will be held at Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 Cedar Ave., Greeley on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
