Shirley Darlene Steinbock was born July 10th, 1942 in Maroa, Illinois to Norton and Dorothy (Golden) Bass and was the second oldest of 5 siblings. She passed at the age of 80 at her home on Thursday, October 20th, 2022 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
She was a homemaker and raised her boys. Once the boys were a little older, she started working in retail. She took a lot of pride in working at Ellis Western Wear. She loved sewing clothes for the boys and gardening. She was able to put a branch in water and nurture it into a tree. All 80 trees on their property were planted as those branches. May the shade of those beloved trees be enjoyed for generations to come. She enjoyed fishing in small creeks above Red Feather Lakes and traveling in their motorhome after retirement. The warm sun on her face and sand in her toes always felt like paradise. She enjoyed spending the winters in Arizona when the Colorado winters became too cold.
Shirley was never a person to be at the center of attention. She always made sure everyone was taken care of before she would ever think of herself. The most special gift she ever received was her fully restored 1961 Nash Metropolitan. She picked the most beautiful pink color, and her husband was more than happy to paint her favorite color. She was very proud of her car and enjoyed going to car shows. When anyone would ask her what it was, she would light up with joy and pride to tell them all about it.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; deeply loved by her family. Survivors include her husband, J. Brent Steinbock of Fort Collins, Colorado; her two children, Bryan Steinbock (Tricia) and Jay (Shelley) Steinbock, both of Laporte, Colorado; her three grandchildren, Dustie (Aaron) Nebelsick of Timnath, Colorado; Ashley Steinbock of Loveland, Colorado; Kyle (Hailey) Steinbock of Loveland, Colorado; her three step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Madison) Sasse of Riverton, Wyoming; Kaeli Sasse of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mitchell (Victoria) Sasse of Laporte, Colorado; brothers, Bud (Karla) Bass of Bellvue, Colorado; Jim (Arta) Bass of Fort Collins, Colorado; sisters, Kathy (Thad) Rogers of Thornton, Colorado; Carolyn (Tom) Kitzmiller, Henderson, Colorado; her sister-in-law, Sandy Bass of Loveland, Colorado; her great-grandchildren, Courtney, Analise, Holley, Hayes; her step-grandchildren, Tyla, Aiden, Levi, Kylie, Dominick, Dustin, Zavior, Malakhi, Dalton.
