Rita Miles, 68, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on May 30, 2019 after a battle with brain cancer. She was born in 1951 in Jackson, Michigan.
Rita was best known as a loving and nurturing woman who spent 37 years as a registered nurse taking care of others in need. She spent most of her career in critical care until retiring from St. Joseph Mercy-Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan. She was a graduate of Hurley Hospital School of Nursing and earned her BS in Nursing at Oakland University while raising two small children. Rita attended St. Mary's School and Lumen Christi High School in Jackson, Michigan.
In retirement, Rita spent many hours sewing beautiful outfits for her grandchildren. She also had a flair for interior design and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed traveling and camping and especially loved hiking and seeing all of the sights in Colorado.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of 46 years (Jim), her daughter Amy (John) Volckens of Fort Collins, Colorado, and her son Jason (Stephanie) Miles of Crystal Lake, Illinois. She is also survived by her grandchildren (JoJo, Eliana, and Billy); her sister Judie (Jim) Holzworth of Jackson, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents (Pat and Phil Williams) as well as two beloved sisters (Michele Williams and Mary Jo Williams).
The family will receive visitors at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A eulogy will be delivered at 6:30 and the rosary at 7.
The funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 5 at 10 am with lunch following at noon.
