Placida "Patsy" Mercado Ortiz, 72, of Fort Collins passes away after losing her battle to breast cancer on Saturday, March 9, 2013. She was born in Arlington, Texas on December 1, 1940. Patsy had the biggest heart…if you ever met her you would feel the overflowing love that poured out. Her greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with them. She has taught many of us how to be the utmost we can and that your family comes first. She was a person you could always count on if you ever needed anything from the biggest to the smallest things. Placida Ortiz is survived by her eight beautiful children, Panchie Ortiz, Cris, Jr. Ortiz, Mary Ortiz, Janie Smith and her son-in-law, Corey Smith, Tony Ortiz, and her daughter-in-law, Mona Ortiz, Sara Ortiz, Eddie Ortiz and Lisa Ortiz and also her son-in-law, Roy Hernandez; thirty-four grandkids; sixty six and growing great grandkids and twelve great great grandkids. Waiting patiently for her are her husband, Crescencio N. Ortiz; son, Ernie Ortiz; mother and father, Jose and Maria Mercado; and great granddaughter, Bernadette "Brenna" Laureles. Pallbearers will be Johnny Hernandez, Ernesto Ortiz, Steve Jr. Gallegos, Elias Jr. Rodriquez, Lloyd Crawford, Cris Ortiz, Gary Cruz, and Robert Gallegos. Those who wish may view Patsy on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery will follow.
