Nikolaus William Kuenneke, 75, of Evans, died April 30, 2009 at North Colorado Medical Center, Greeley, CO. Mr. Kuenneke was born October 4, 1933 in Bremen, Germany to Wilhelm Künneke and Hilda Groh Künneke. He immigrated to the United States in 1951 and lived in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Nikolaus served in the U.S. Air Force for 14 years. He received a Man of the Year Award while living in Taiwan. He moved to Evans in 2005. Nikolaus married Pamela Sue "Richard" Becker Kuenneke on August 31, 2002 in Florida. In private business he was an accountant, Chief Financial Officer and a Company Treasurer. His last held position was an Internal Revenue Service Agent. Nikolaus enjoyed working with his computer. He was a master gardener in Florida and loved gardening. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Sue Kuenneke of Evans; sons George Kuenneke of Louisville, Kentucky and Daniel Kuenneke of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Hilda Pamela Kuenneke of Cincinnati; two stepsons, Kenneth Gene Becker, II of Timnath, Colorado and William Reinhart Becker of Newman Grove, Nebraska; a sister, Herta Junge of Bremen, Germany, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceding Nikolaus in death are his first wife, Alma Juanita Ellis Kuenneke, his parents, and his brother, Karl Künneke. A Memorial Service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, Wednesday, 2:15 p.m. His grandson, Pastor Austin Tucker will officiate at the services. Memorial contributions can be made to The Parkinson's Association in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
