Listen to Obituary
Mildred was born in New Windsor, New York on December 7, 1922. Mildred was a loving Mother and Grandmother dedicated to her family. She always put everyone else first. She had 4 daughters: Jessie Falco and Paula Falco Gaut, Lois Hughes Scarbrough and Violet Hughes Simmons. She was blessed with 6 grand-children: Alice Marler, Brian Scarbrough, Toni Villa Thomas, Justin Villa, Jason Villa, Leigh Gaut Ellis and 7 great grandchildren: Kaitlin, Daniel, Emsley, Elliot, Max, Katherine and Ryan. Mildred suffered many hardships growing up during the Great Depression. Through all the adversities she endured in life, she always bounced back smiling. We will forever remember her beautiful smile. She loved to go dancing with her family and friends. When they would go down to the Hofbrau House to dance, the band leader would hand her the microphone. She had a lovely sweet voice. Growing up, we remember Mom playing her favorite songs on the phonograph. Among them were "Love me Tender" and "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis Presley, and "On the Street Where you Live", Lara's Theme and "The Shadow of your Smile". Mom loved nature and animals. She was a home-maker, great cook and seamstress and was an avid reader. She shared her strong moral values, faithfulness, forgiving nature, strength of character and resourcefulness with her girls. Mildred went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed. Memorial Service, 2:30 p.m., Friday, Lemay Avenue Health and Rehab Center, 4824 S Lemay Ave. Private Graveside Service, Grandview Cemetery.
