Marie R. Bean

Marie R. Bean, age 91, passed into the arms of the Lord on February 8, 2014 in Fort Collins, CO. She was a resident of Columbine West at the time of her death. Mrs. Bean was born Marie Gebhardt on September 3, 1922 on a farm near Luray, KS. She graduated from Luray High School in 1940 and attended Ft. Hays State Teachers College. She taught school in Osborne and Russell Counties, Ks. After her marriage to Leonard C. Bean in 1946, to whom she was married for 40 years she became a homemaker. She moved with her family to the Poudre Canyon in 1963. She loved the Poudre and spoke of her time there until the end of her life. She was a member of the Bellvue Baptist Church of Bellvue, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Adolph and Violet Gebhardt; 2 sisters, Helen Ulrich and Bonnie Letourneau. Survivors include 3 sons; Dell of Ft. Collins, Blake Cindy of Ft. Collins, and Clark Emily of Flagstaff, AZ. 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Doris Raney of Bellville, KS, Connie Vopet of Wichita, KS and one brother, Edward Gebhardt of Atlanta, GA. Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date in Luray, KS.
